What it is

A serrated cold-knife for uncapping honey frames before extraction. The serrated edge cuts through wax cappings without heating — warm honey will sometimes drag the knife sideways, but the serrations cut through regardless.

Serrated cold-knife vs. heated knife

A heated electric uncapping knife works faster and leaves a cleaner surface on large-volume uncapping. A serrated cold-knife needs no electricity, no setup, no safety concern — just pull it across the face of the frame. For backyard or sideliner harvests (a few dozen frames per season), a cold-knife is plenty and simpler.

Usage notes

Clean between frames — wax and honey build up and dull the cutting action. Store dry; the blade is plain steel and will rust if stored damp. A kitchen knife sharpener brings back the serrated edge if it dulls over years.

Compatibility

All frame depths and hive styles.
