What it is

A two-stage stainless steel honey strainer that fits over a bucket. The top sieve has larger mesh to catch wax cappings and bee parts; the bottom sieve has finer mesh to catch remaining wax fines. Pour uncapped honey through and you get clean honey in the bucket.

Why two stages

A single-sieve strainer clogs quickly — wax cappings plug the mesh, and you spend more time scraping the sieve than straining honey. Two stages let the top sieve handle bulk debris while the bottom sieve polishes. Through-put is much higher, and you don't have to stop to clean mid-batch.

Stainless vs. plastic

Stainless steel doesn't absorb honey flavors, doesn't stain, and cleans up with hot water. Plastic strainers work but discolor over years and can crack. Stainless is the one-time buy.

Usage notes

Pour slowly — forcing honey through the mesh by pressing with a spoon just pushes wax through into the bucket. Patience gets you cleaner honey. Clean in hot soapy water immediately after use; dried honey in the mesh is much harder to remove than fresh.

Compatibility

Fits standard 5-gallon buckets.
