2 Gallon Frame Feeder
Large-capacity frame feeder for deep boxes. Occupies two frame slots. 2-gallon capacity reduces refill frequency during fall feeding.
- Bee-safe float prevents drowning
- Deep-frame profile — no special tools or modification needed
- 2-gallon capacity cuts refill frequency in half compared to 1-gallon feeders
- Occupies two frame slots
What it is
A two-gallon frame feeder that replaces two deep frames in a Langstroth hive body. Doubles the capacity of the one-gallon version, useful for heavy fall feeding when a colony needs 40–60 lbs of stores to make it through winter.
When to use the 2-gallon vs. the 1-gallon
Fall feeding, when you're pumping syrup into colonies at 2:1 (thick) and weight gain matters. A two-gallon feeder means half the trips to refill — for 10 colonies spread across a yard, that's a real time saving.
Usage notes
Bees need a ladder or float to avoid drowning. Most 2-gallon feeders include an internal ladder; verify before pouring syrup. Pour directly in the top; cover with the inner cover when done.
Compatibility
Replaces two deep frames in a 10-frame Langstroth deep body. Reduces frame count 10 → 8 during use. For an 8-frame hive, the 2-gallon feeder reduces to 6 frames — enough for feeding but not for normal brood management, so use it short-term.
