What it is
A sheet of deep-depth plastic foundation coated with 100% capping beeswax. Goes into a deep frame and gives the bees a template to draw straight brood comb — essential for colonies where the queen will be laying for years in the same frames.
Why Premier's Puracell line
Premier Bee Products, American-made in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Puracell foundation uses 100% capping beeswax (not a wax-paraffin blend) — bees accept it faster, and the drawn comb is clean enough for brood rearing without off-flavors.
Deep depth
Deep foundation is 8⅜" tall, designed for deep hive bodies. Most Arkansas beekeepers use two deep hive bodies for the brood nest; some run all-deep throughout for simpler inventory. A full deep weighs ~60 lbs when capped and honey-bound, which is worth thinking about if you're managing multiple yards.
Usage notes
Slides into a deep wooden frame — no wiring, no embedding. Install the foundation the same day you install the frame in the hive; fresh wax smell accelerates acceptance. Store flat and cool until ready; warped foundation draws crooked.
