What it is
An IPM screened bottom board for 8-frame Langstroth hives. The mesh screen replaces the solid bottom, letting mites that drop off the cluster fall through to a removable sticky board for counting.
Value
Two wins in one piece of equipment: passive mite reduction (mites that fall can't climb back up) and mite monitoring (count the drop off the sticky board to track varroa trends). The mesh also improves summer ventilation — in Arkansas heat, that matters.
Usage notes
Slide in a sticky board (plastic sheet with petroleum jelly or cooking spray) weekly during the mite season. Count the drop, convert to population estimate. For precision, an alcohol wash every 3–4 weeks is still the gold standard; the drop count supplements but doesn't replace it.
Compatibility
8-frame Langstroth. Swap in place of the solid bottom board. Any 8-frame hive body stacks on top.
