What it is
A rotating entrance disc — a circular plastic or metal plate that screws to the front of the hive and rotates through four positions: fully open, narrow opening, vent only, and closed. Lets you adjust the hive entrance without removing or replacing a traditional reducer.
When to use it
On a nuc box, an observation hive, or a swarm trap where you want tight entrance control without fussing with wooden reducers. Useful for moving hives: rotate to "closed" before the move, rotate to "vent" during transit, rotate to "open" on arrival.
Usage notes
Screw into place on the hive body or nuc box. Rotate with a finger or a hive tool. Clean between seasons — propolis buildup can jam the rotation.
Compatibility
Universal — fits any hive style where you can drill a mounting hole. Commonly used on nuc boxes, mating nucs, and swarm traps. Not a replacement for a full entrance reducer on a production colony.
