What it is
The deluxe uncapping setup — a large food-grade tub with a frame rest across the top and a honey gate at the bottom. Frames go on the rest after extraction; you uncap them with a heated knife or scratcher (sold separately on this site) and the cappings fall into the tub below. Honey draining off the cappings collects in the tub and can be drawn off cleanly through the gate.
Why this matters
Uncapping over a bucket sounds simple but in practice the cappings stack up, drip off the sides, and you lose honey to the floor. A purpose-built uncapping tub with a frame rest at the right height keeps the workflow clean and recovers the drainage honey that would otherwise be wasted.
What goes with it
Pair with a serrated uncapping knife (sold separately on this site) and an uncapping roller for spots the knife misses. Drained cappings can be melted down for beeswax or pressed for additional honey.
