Hive Carrier
Heavy-duty hive carrier straps for safely moving full hive bodies. Adjustable length.
- Rated for full hive bodies — safely moves loaded equipment
- Adjustable length straps fit different box heights and two-person carrying distances
- Reduces strain on hands and wrists compared to grip lifting
What it is
A two-person hive carrier — a pair of metal rails with handles on each end that clip to the bottom of a hive body to let two people lift an entire box safely. Distributes the load across both lifters and keeps the box level during transport.
When to use it
Moving hives between yards, rearranging an apiary, or shifting a full honey super to the extractor. A full deep hive body weighs ~60 lbs and is awkward; a two-person carrier turns it into a manageable lift. One-person moves of a full deep are doable but hard on your back over repeated lifts.
Usage notes
Check the clip engagement before lifting — dropped hives scatter bees and frames. Communicate with your lifting partner on the count; one person lifting faster than the other means a tilted box and frames sliding into each other. Wear gloves and veils — you're carrying 60+ lbs of live bees that are now confused about why their hive is moving.
Compatibility
Fits standard 10-frame and 8-frame Langstroth hive bodies. The carrier clips under the bottom board; make sure the bottom board is sound before you trust it with a full colony.
