What it is

A frame holder — a hanging hook that clips onto the side of a hive body and gives you a spot to set two or three frames outside the box during inspection. Keeps frames off the ground, off your truck tailgate, and away from dirt and ants.

Why you want one

The frame holder solves the problem of "where do I put this frame while I inspect the next one." Setting frames in the grass gets them dirty and invites ants. Setting them on a truck tailgate means bees go everywhere as you walk around. A holder clips to the box you're working and gives the frames a dedicated, bee-friendly parking spot inches from the open hive.

Usage notes

Most holders clip on the outside of the box near the upper rim. Check it holds the frame's weight before letting go — a drop full of bees is a bad morning. Remove and store off the hive when not in use; leaving it hanging can mark the paint.

Compatibility

Standard 10-frame or 8-frame Langstroth boxes. Deep, medium, or shallow frames all fit.
