- 5⅝" × 16½" — sized for medium frames
- Approximately 16 sheets per pound
- For producing cut comb honey for retail
What it is
Thin surplus beeswax foundation — the minimum-thickness foundation used in cut comb honey production so the customer eats almost entirely natural-drawn comb. Sized 5⅝" × 16½" to fit standard medium-depth frames. Approximately 16 sheets per pound.
How it fits in the workflow
Install thin surplus foundation in medium frames in a strong colony at the start of a major nectar flow. Once drawn and capped, harvest the frames, then cut into squares with a comb honey knife and cutter, and pack into cut comb boxes for retail.
Notes
Thin surplus is more delicate than brood-frame foundation — keep flat and cool until installation. Pair with the 4⅛" comb honey cutter and 4⅛" cut comb box (both sold separately) for the standard retail workflow.
