Bee Brush
Soft natural-bristle brush for gently moving bees off frames. Non-stinging method for comb work.
- Soft natural bristles — gentle on bees and comb
- Long handle keeps hands clear of agitated bees
- Essential for uncapping work and removing bees from honey supers
What it is
A soft natural-fiber brush used to gently sweep bees off a frame during honey harvest or off your jacket after working a hive. The bristles are long enough to move bees without hurting them and stiff enough to actually dislodge them.
When to use it
Two main situations: honey harvest, when you need to clear bees off a capped honey super before pulling the frame, and end-of-inspection cleanup, when a few confused bees are still clinging to your sleeve or the smoker. The brush is gentler than blowing them off and faster than waiting for them to leave.
Usage notes
Brush in the direction bees are facing — brushing them backward irritates them. Keep the brush clean: a soapy-water rinse at the end of a season prevents propolis buildup that matts the bristles. Stored clean and dry, a good bee brush lasts many years.
Compatibility
Works with any hive style (Langstroth, top-bar, Warré). Essential for honey harvest; optional otherwise — some beekeepers use gentle air (a breath or a small puff from the smoker) instead.
