What it is
The Heavy Duty option in the Apis Tactical glove lineup — built for the working beekeeper who wants more sting protection than the short-cuff Pro Gloves provide, without giving up dexterity or breathability. The palm and fingers are top-grain cowhide leather; the back of the hand uses Apis Tactical's patent-pending custom-molded ventilated mesh that runs up the forearm in a breathable gauntlet.
Why the leather + mesh design
Traditional gauntlet gloves are thick leather all the way up — protective, but they trap heat and turn into oven mitts in Arkansas summers. The Heavy Duty design keeps leather where stings actually penetrate (palm and fingertips, where you grip frames) and uses ventilated mesh on the back-of-hand and forearm where airflow matters more. You get sting protection where it counts and breathability where you need it.
When to choose Heavy Duty over Pro Gloves
Pro Gloves are short-cuff, mechanic-style, designed for maximum dexterity in moderate-temperament colonies. Heavy Duty Gloves are the upgrade when you are working defensive colonies, doing extended work in a single hive, or you simply prefer more coverage. Same breathable Apis Tactical philosophy — different protection level.
Sizing
Available in Small, Medium, Large, XL, and XXL. If you are between sizes, size up — leather will break in tighter, not looser.
