What it is
A fencing-style beekeeping veil from Apis Tactical. The fencing style means the veil is held away from your face by a rigid frame — like a fencing mask — so no mesh ever touches your skin. Bees can't sting through it, and you don't get the claustrophobic feel of a square veil sitting against your nose.
Why we carry the fencing style
The older round/square veils rely on a hat brim to keep mesh off the face. In Arkansas heat, hat brims trap sweat and slide. Fencing veils use a fixed plastic frame that holds the mesh in a constant dome shape regardless of how hot you are or how much you're sweating. For all-day inspection work in July, fencing veils are a noticeable upgrade.
Visibility
Full 360-degree mesh — no blind spots behind your head or along the sides. Some square veils leave you with a 180-degree view and you miss bees flanking you.
Fit and sizing
Attaches to the zippered collar of the Apis Tactical jackets we also stock. Can be worn over a standard t-shirt with a separate waist-belt system if you prefer not to wear a full jacket. Clean the mesh occasionally with a damp cloth — propolis and sunscreen build up over a season.
