Insulation That Works Both Ways
The interlocking double-wall design traps a layer of still air between the interior and exterior panels. In winter, this slows heat loss from the cluster without the bees having to produce as much warmth. In the Arkansas summer, the same air gap resists solar heating — the hive interior stays several degrees cooler than a single-wall wood box in direct sun.
Material Advantage
Food-grade plastic is inert, non-absorbent, and impervious to the fungal decay that shortens the life of even high-quality pine equipment. There is no paint to peel, no grain to check, and no swelling at the joints. The surfaces clean easily with a hive tool and hold up to standard bleach disinfection between uses.
