What it is
The 10 lb economy box of AP23 pollen substitute patties from Global Patties — same patties as the single 1 lb size, packaged as ten 1 lb patties for operations feeding multiple colonies or feeding repeatedly through fall buildup or spring stimulation.
When colonies need pollen substitute
Pollen is the bee colony's protein source. During Arkansas dearth periods (typically late June through August) and during early spring before significant pollen flows, colonies underperform on brood-rearing without protein supplementation. AP23 is one of the standard formulations for filling that gap.
How to use it
Place a patty directly on the top bars above the brood nest, between supers. Bees consume from the bottom up. Replace as needed during the feeding window. One 1 lb patty typically lasts 1-2 weeks per colony depending on colony size and pollen availability outside the hive.
Notes
Not a substitute for natural pollen — supplements when natural pollen is limited. Most effective during periods of natural scarcity, not during heavy spring or fall pollen flows.
